  • What is Magic Eraser?

    Magic Eraser uses AI to remove unwanted things from your photos: people, objects, text, and other distractions. Paint over what you want gone and it fills the spot to match the background.

  • How do I remove an object or a person from a photo?

    Paint over the whole object or person, including their shadow, then click Erase. In a busy scene, remove one thing at a time for cleaner results.

  • Can I remove text, logos, or watermarks from a picture?

    Yes. Cover every letter or mark, including outlines and shadows, then click Erase. Plain backgrounds give the cleanest results. Only remove watermarks from images you own or have permission to edit.

  • What can't Magic Eraser remove well?

    Large objects on detailed backgrounds, like patterns, faces, or crowds, are the hardest to fill. For those, erase in smaller parts.

  • Can I use Magic Eraser on my phone?

    Yes, it works in your mobile browser. Draw with one finger, and use two fingers to move or zoom the photo.

  • Are there keyboard shortcuts?

    Yes, on desktop. Press Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on Mac) to undo the last brush stroke. Hold Shift and click to draw a straight line from where your last stroke ended.

  • What if the result doesn't look right?

    Go back to an earlier version in your edit history, then paint a smaller or more precise area and try again.

  • Which images can I use?

    JPEG, PNG, or WebP up to 10 MB. Very large photos may be scaled down for processing, so the result can be smaller than the original. JPEG and WebP downloads keep their format; other images download as PNG.

  • Is there a Chrome extension?

    Yes. With the Magic Eraser extension, right-click any image on a website and choose Open in Magic Eraser to start editing it right away.

  • What happens to my photos?

    Your uploaded photo is stored temporarily for up to 24 hours. We don't keep your edited results, so download any you want to save.
